Time Travel Radio (although I use this less because of the out-of-order tracks from greatest hits collections).

I do use these playlists for certain scenarios (mostly The Beat when having friends over, or Oldies when the in-laws are over).

5-star = perfect songs, songs that I think are the greatest of all time, songs that I want to hear on radios, etc more than mostĪt the same time, I'm adding the majority of 3+-star songs to one of several playlists (Upbeat Rock, The Beat, The Groove, Oldies, Acoustic Vibes, Super-Chill, Country Greats ).

4-star = songs I really like, that stand out from the pack in one way or another.

could be songs that I think are good but not great, could be hits that I'm a little sick of, could be songs that I think would be fun to pop up on Library Radio or similar

2-star = only want to hear it in Artist Mix Builder or similar.

1-star = only want to hear it when I choose to play the album or a playlist I've added it to.

My main method is still my Unrated smart playlist, I love not knowing what I'll hear next, rating and categorizing songs. I'm still trying out different combos but the star playlists are my usual go-tos. Lot of awesome features but the smart playlists are my #1 feature for plex/plexamp musically. Time to time I dig into the moods and occasionally the sonic highway or time travel. I round it out with 'not listened to in last 2 months' and 'played more than 15 times' for both deep cuts that get missed and the times you want something super familiar on. I also have an 'Unrated' playlist for everything that needs to be categorized.

I usually download either the full discography or top 3-5 rated albums when I find someone new, hence the 1 star option so I can curate things down. I star everything to categorize and then put smart playlists for each 'grouping' with the added criteria 'not played in last two weeks' which helps reduce repetition from poor shuffling.Ģ* - chill music, won't have anything heavy or super loudģ* - standard rock, good for when you have the auxĤ* - catches my ear and worms in, probably the least rigid of the stars
